The Catalyst project began in February 2018 with the ambition to educate Irish and Welsh SMEs about the theme of sustainability, including packaging, waste and business development. This was achieved through an extensive range of workshops, cross-border events and 1-to-1 targeted support programmes. The highlights here were undoubtedly the three cross-border R&D Residencies, (two led by the Institute of Technology Carlow and one by UWTSD) and the three cross-border Trade Residencies, featuring business delegations from Ireland and Wales attending Anuga in Cologne, Food Matters Live in London and Packaging Innovations in Birmingham.
